Core Web Vitals are a set of metrics related to different website performance aspects, such as speed, responsiveness, and visual stability. In its efforts to help website owners improve their user experience, Google now offers six ways to measure Core Web Vitals. Below are some tools recommended by Sonoma County-based website marketing companies that you can use to measure your website’s Core Web Vitals.
Search Console
Recently, Google updated its Search Console with Core Web Vitals Report. Website owners can use Core Web Vitals Report to evaluate pages across their websites. The report identifies groups of pages requiring attention on the basis of real-world data from the Chrome User Experience report.
Lighthouse
The latest version of Lighthouse (Lighthouse 6.0) includes new metrics, a recently composed performance score, and additional audits. Two of these newly added metrics are Largest Contentful Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift.
These metrics provide diagnostic information that can be used to improve user experience. Another new metric, Total Blocking Time, correlates well with First Input Delay, a Core Web Vitals metric.
Chrome DevTools
The latest version of Chrome DevTools has been updated to help site owners find and address visual instability issues on pages that can contribute to Cumulative Layout Shift. If you want to check where the shift occurred, hover over the Moved from and Moved to fields.
Web Vitals Extension
The brand new extension can be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store. It measures the three core Web Vitals metrics: cumulative layout shift, largest contentful paint, and first input delay in real time.
Chrome User Experience (UX) Report
The Chrome UX Report or CrUX is a public dataset. It contains real user experience data on millions of websites. The Chrome UX Report reports on real-world data. The report recently received a new Core Web Vitals landing page.
PageSpeed Insights
PageSpeed Insights was recently updated. The latest version can be used in combination with Lighthouse 6.0. It is designed to measure Core Web Vitals in both the lab and field sections. Core Web Vitals are denoted by a blue ribbon.
