Using Local Reviews for Your Business

Local reviews matter and it’s shown that social proof drives purchases. People usually trust buyers reviews more than branded commercials and are more likely to purchase a product or hire a service if real buyers are happy with it.

When a customer leaves a positive review, they help market your brand. Positive local reviews provide a competitive edge while helping build credibility and improve your brand’s local ranking.

Why Are Local Reviews Important?

More people than ever before read local reviews before making purchase decisions. Every local business should implement a strategy to generate reviews. Research shows that around 86% of consumers read reviews of local businesses and 57% of buyers only use businesses with at least four stars.

However, it’s not just buyers, even Google loves businesses with positive reviews. Getting positive reviews is a great way to earn brownie points with Google. In fact, it’s been noted that Google Business listings with more reviews and higher ratings tend to get a boost in the search rankings.

This should come as no surprise considering the fact that Google’s goal is to give users the best options for local searches. Positive reviews is an effective tool when it comes to improving brand perception.

How Do I Get More Reviews?

Use In-store Placards

If you have a brick and mortar store, you can use in-store signage such as placards, banners, flyers, QR codes, and brochures to remind customers to leave reviews. You can also include a review request at the bottom of bill receipts.

Many businesses use a kiosk with an in-store app that directs customers to a page on their website where they can leave an on-site review.

Simplify the Process of Leaving Reviews

Have buttons and templates that allow people to leave feedback easily and swiftly. Ask for and collect reviews in channels in which your buyers are most active and receptive.

Instead of asking buyers to click on a link within email messages that will take them to a separate page, allow people to provide feedback by responding directly to mails.

Thank Customers For Leaving Positive Reviews

Send a personalized thank you note to people who leave glowing reviews and tell them how much it means to you. Remember, a little appreciation can go a long way. Thanking people is a great way to show the humane side of your brand.

Do Not Forget Those Who Leave Negative Reviews

Reach out to people who leave negative reviews. Try to understand the cause of their dissatisfaction and offer a solution. Do not take negative reviews personally as they often offer an opportunity to improve your products or services. Assure them that you will do everything possible to address their concerns.
